Habitat: In Pinus sylvestris forest with a few individuals of Betula pendula and Sorbus aucupari.. Rhododendron tomentosum completely dominating understory - no other ground vegetation present. Shallow acid soils, which have formed in 'pockets' between extremely large rocks laid down at the end of the last ice age.
Description: Layering and suckering shrub to 1m, lanceolate leaves with revolute margins, dark green above, the undersides and upper stems covered in very dense ferruginous indumentum. 'Individuals' very hard to distinguish. This collection made from a plant on the edge of the population.
