Habitat: Lowland mixed dipterocarp forest, in gap.
Description: Terrestrial herb, in clump, stilt-rooted to 25 cm. Leafy shoots to 12 cm apart, to 3 m long; base 3 cm diam.; sheath pale yellow-green and reticulate at base, smooth above; ligule to 2.5 cm long, yellow-green, entire, long-haired; petiole to 2 cm long; lamina to 75 x 17 cm, slightly plicate, mid-green, pale green and pubescent beneath. Inflorescence from rhizome, to 20 cm long, erect, spike ovate. Bracts pale green, reticulate, white in centre, margin reddish-brown. Flowers red, 3-5 open at a time; fertile bracts and bracteole very pale red; stamen white, anther crest red.
