Habitat: scattered over damp grass hill
Description: Growing singly; stem short, erect surrounded by long scales 1in in diameter & 1.5 to 3in. long coated with yellow farina. Leaves sessile, oblong, spathulate, broadly sheathing, or ovate oblong sheathing, subacute, erose, green, not mealy, erect, crowded & confined 3--4 inches long, more than 1/2 the length of the peduncle. Peduncle generally present but as in the English primrose often wanting, the pedicels there being very long..? ..forming a whorl not spurred ovate acuminate closely adpressed to pedicels & about 1/3 the length. Calyx large wide loose dark brown. erose, green, not mealy , erect, crowded & confined 3--4 inches long, more than half the length of the peduncle. Peduncle generally present
