Habitat: on grassy slopes with P. calthifolia. Only seen on the North face of the ridge, where the snow has scarcely melted yet.
Description: Flowers very large, bright daffodil yellow, the inner half powdered with white meal. Sweetly fragrant, borne singly or in pairs. Leaves developing later. A wonderful and never-to be-forgotten sight. In clumps or singly.
