Habitat: growing in thickets on Exposed rocky places
Description: A thin scraggy shrub. Leaves closely lepidote below, the scales black, giving a smoky grey colour. Leafty calyx with a few crimson scales near the base, stigma crimson, style as long as corolla tube, with a few bright crimson scales at the base, curved so as to bring the stigma outside the staminal ring. Stamens 10, unequal. The anthers gathered into a loose ring and the lowers ones slightly upturned. Filaments hairy at the base. Ovary encrusted with shining crimson scales full of secretion. Pedicel as well as calyx with scattered scales. Corolla glabrous.
